Bye Week Potpourri: Nothing You Didn't Already Know

It's a fortnight until what will definitely be the two most season defining UAA games of 09/10.  The Seawolves will be going on the road for the playoffs, we know that already.  But will they be going as the 9th place team?  Lose both games to Mankato and such a distasteful possibility could very well become reality.

The Seawolves only have 8 points left to capture.  And they've played more games than everybody else including 4 more than the two teams 1 point ahead of them in the standings and 4 more than Mankato who is 5 points behind.  A sweep of Mankato is more than preferable.  I'll examine all that in more detail next week.  One other note ... if the Seawolves win their last 6 games, they will finish the season 16-16-2.

The top five teams look pretty close to being determined.  The order of finish at the top though is far from determined.  Denver is best positioned, they're one point back of current co-leaders UMD and SCSU and have two games in hand.  Bucky is just three points back of DU with the same two games in hand.  CC is tied with Bucky but has played 22 games.

It's very possible (and almost likely) that UND and Minnesota will finish in the lower half of the standings without some Herculean effort.  There's some satisfaction for the rest of the league in that finality should it occur since everybody hates both of those teams.  Um ... Tech is gonna finish last without some help.  Mankato could go on an ultimate run of futility and Tech could catch them.  Neither seems that likely though.

My Saturday night SCSU recap would be that after the Seawolves were down 2-0 and failed to cash in on two pretty well run power plays (which generated quality chances) that the air went out of their tires.  Boom ... it's 3-0 and game over.  You're never going to win if you don't believe you're going to win and SCSU's goalie took UAA's belief away on those two power plays.  After that our guys just pretty much went through the motions.  I suppose I could have written that Saturday night but it didn't occur to me in that particular way until later.  So there it is.

Sarah Palin is a lying buffoon.  Glenn Beck is a chimpanzee.  George Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld should be in jail.  Ice is slippery.  My posts here aren't as funny as they once were.  Dogs are better than cats.  Dwight Shrute is a bumpkin.  The eastern part of the U.S. is full of snow whiners.  Aaron Marvin is a bender.  If UND fan's penises were an iPod they'd be a shuffle.  Jon Stewart rUleZMinnesota doesn't rule anything.  Swedish girls look good in pink bikinisBroccoli sucks.  There are lots of links in this paragraph that I know you won't click.  YouTube has some funny crazy shit.

The Winter Olympics start this weekend.  The World Cup starts this June.  And just in case you didn't already know this ... Baseball sucks.

Today's paper says the Coach Shyiak show is on tonight at 8pm on Channel 1 (GCI). Didn't see it on the GCI schedule but hope that it is true.

There were a lot of links in that paragraph that I did click and I wasn't able to get to the Dwight one. I enjoy your posts and don't expect every one to be funny or enlightening. Sometimes a rant or rave or vent is more than justified.

The coaches show was a repeat - talked about the DU and Tech series.

I hope the coaches are able to take in some of the highschool hockey playoff games. It would be nice to see their faces in the community.
