The Seawolves are sporting new duds in this years edition of the team photo. Let's hear some feedback eh? I like them. I think I've come to a fairly solid hypothesis as to one reason I think the new look will benefit the team. How tangible it is ... is up to you to decide.
Our visual perceptions about reality are influenced greatly by the pattern matching software written into our brains. We can easily identify many things around us simply by shape alone. Put a black outline of a tree on a white background and we know what it is without having to see the leaves and branches.
I'd think that in any instances this season where an opponent hits any Seawolf player ... that the referee is going to recognize an illegal hit easier than if the Seawolf were wearing a solid colored jersey. If a ref doesn't see all of that white above the shoulders then you can damn sure bet some guy from one of eleven different teams committed an infraction of the rules.
So that's my little theory. I think they look good and hopefully in some way they'll get us a couple of extra power plays here and there.

I wonder what the home jerseys will look like, thinking that the mainly green ones will be the away jerseys.
Simply looks old-school to me.
Yeah, our away jerseys look soo much better, but how will our home jerseys look like?
I like the laces, but not so sure about the white shoulders.
I think the new uniforms add a lot of style. Kind of reminds me of the old school UAA jerseys from the 1980's. Pretty cool.
Looks like a cross between the last two types of jerseys we've had.
As for the new pattern, usually the equipment provider provides the equipment manager and the coaching staff and the athletic department with some examples of patterns and styles they make for jerseys and then the school selects which one will be best for them. So I'm pretty sure your hypothesis is a bit off.
I hope everyone likes this year's jerseys! They were a labor of love for me in the offseason and they turned out great thanks to fine folks at Gemini Athletic Wear. Coach and I are both big fans of a "classic" looking jerseys and wanted to continue displaying the Seawolf logo on the front because we both think it's one of the most recognizable logos in all of college hockey. I wanted to keep the the three line look on the hem and arms from the previous jerseys, but add the opposing yokes (shoulders) to make it stand out a bit. I based them off of the current home and away jerseys worn by the Boston Bruins and they have also been compared to the old Minnesota North Stars jerseys. They are also a new material and cut similar to NHL jerseys, so hopefully the snugger light weight jerseys will allow our guys to be a bit quicker. Also we changed the jerseys for The Kendall Classic, but you'll have to wait to see those! Hahahaha! Thank you to all of the fans out there and look forward to another great season!
