Game Day: Seawolves @ MTU

There is no TV.  You can purchase a video stream at Michigan Tech's website.  Gametime is 3:07 Alaska time.

I have confirmation that Rob Gunderson's absence from this trip has nothing to do with academics.  He was one of the players who missed practice on Dec 28th coming back late from break.

Feel free to pop into the Chatango Room ... that chat box on the right column... over there ----> .. ya know?  I should be in there and listening to Kurt's call on the radio.

Donald - Do you know if Gunderson will be available for next weekends road series?

Anon @ 1204, unless Kamal gets hurt i don't see him making it to madison.

Wow! O.K. thanks for the info.

It's great to see Dusan's name on the
roster. It's too bad Gunderson came
back late and hopefully Kamal stays
healthy. But, if he doesn't, Sidor may
have a chance to show us who he is.
He's a senior and I for 1 would like to
see him play. Thank you to Dusan for
all the contributions to the team and
keeping yourself ready in case you're
needed. Academic's aren't too bad
either :).
As for Mickey, Sorry to see you go Mick.
I don't know what the circumstances
were but a big thank you for your
contributions as well. I wish you all the
best in your future.
Let's go Seawolves. No more injuries eh?
Bring us he some points! <3...

With this being the one road trip a season where the boys stay over for the next weekend the suspensions for getting back late are probably doubled. In another year I'd imagine guys would just sit out on road trip.

It can be a fine line to apply appropriate discipline to individuals. What we're talking about here is guys missing 4 games because they didn't get back by December 28th. That's a break of only 3 weeks ... right?

Guys obviously should have known when they needed to get back and make appropriate travel plans. The guys who are playing did get back on time ya know?

Anyway ... hopefully it works out well and the potential positives are greater than the negatives.

Well, again it comes down to attitude. Spencer for one said he couldn't get back on the 28th because tickets were too expensive. Really? Wow. Nice committment there. Not. Try planning ahead next time.

I would like the truth to come out about Mickey. It is really hard to sit back and hear non truths being told. He is still in Anchorage and will finish the semester. He does still love the game of HOCKEY, he just could not take the s t. He loved being a Seawolf and will miss being with his Team mates.

Picks and Pustin were back on time and neither one of them got the chance to go on the road trip. I think Shyiak should give those guys an opportunity I know they work really hard in practice

People have to deal with "s t" in all aspects of their life. He quit on his teammates - hard to really believe he loved being a Seawolf when he quits mid-season. At least finish out the year season.

I'd like to know what you consider non-truths since what I know came directly from Spencer himself.

they need a new coach

Anonymous said...

Why so we can start this whole process over again with a new coach?! No the players need to start being held accountable and actually listen to the coach instead of doing their own thing.

Anonymous said...

anon @ 7:41 You are lying! You do not know him and this did not come directly from him. I know this for a fact. Unless you are in his shoes you have NO Right to make these comments. To bad you are not a REAL HOCKEY FAN!!!

Anonymous said...

No one respects him as a coach so thast why they dont do what he says. No wonder why guys are quitting

Anonymous said...

Perhaps what the team needs its a complete overhaul. How they have survived this long is beyond me. The players talk about how they basically get treated like a division 3 hockey team. From what it sounds like, being a seawolf is more of a job, than it is a privilege. And maybe thats why already 2 guys have QUIT! on what other team has anyone heard of that happening. Men giving up on their dreams because its too hard on them, or they get treated like garbage.

"No one respects him as a coach so thast why they dont do what he says. No wonder why guys are quitting"

Seriously? I really doubt any of the players have that attitude, you do know how childish that sounds, right?

I wonder if they'd quite their jobs in the real world simply because they don't like their boss. The coach is not there to be their friend or babysit! And the players don't get treated like garbage, get real.

SCSU lost two players already this season, it happens all the time. Tech suffered with this problem last season as well. So did Minnesota.

I do agree that the facilities and upper management at UAA need a complete overhaul, it is like a D3 team, you have a point there. But unless Cobb gets the axe it aint gonna get any better.

And anon who thinks people are lying, try visiting Mickey's Twitter or FB pages, he said it himself, so if anyone is lying then it must be him. Or he's lying to you. Players don't like to be slandered? How do you think the coaches feel about that and these lies? Think about that before you post here again.

Wow, some of you should think about the old saying "don't judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes" if you don't understand what that means then ask someone.

^ yeah right huh? Hell I don't get all the crap being slung around....he said, she said, hell I just want to see a win tomorrow night.

If anyone is considering purchasing the video through the Tech website, it's not very good. They don't follow the puck well and it was often blurry when the camera followed the teams up and down the ice. Very disappointed.

Wow! Dusan starts! Good on ya Dus!
You got this Bud! It's your turn and we've
got faith in ya
Let's Go Seawolves

You can all sit and speculate all day what happened and why he left. Point fingers and blame who ever you want. The truth is spencer did what was best for him, which is what any of you would do. So stop with the judgements. Respect his decision and get over it!

malainse said...

More speculation, says he might be able to come back.

Regardless of the circumstance this is a familiar feeling to long-time Seawolf fans. It rarely ends well for anyone. Depending on the rest of the season and morale in March, might be time to reboot.

shiyak is taking the passion out of the game for the uaa hockey players.

Anonymous said...

Well at least we scored 6 goals this weekend, the week before we played CC assistant coach T.J. Jindra had the boys practice exclusively on shooting all week. We ended up scoring 9 goals on a ranked CC team.

Since when it is the coaches job to instill passion in his players? These guys are in college, they should be able to motivate themselves.

Anonymous said...

Until ANY of you know the truth behind Mickey and the effort he put into being who he was NONE of you have the right to say anything! - get out of here. Mickey worked hard and continuously got treated like trash. None of you know anything about what happened "behind the scenes". He is an adult and chose what was best for him!!!

Anonymous said...

Get out of here? Oh my. This is a blog for UAA fans (of which you are obviously NOT), to discuss ALL things UAA hockey. The teams leading scorer leaving mid season certainly qualifies.

Just as you have the right to come here and bash the coach without hearing the other side of the story. I really don't think you want to open up that can of worms.

Enough Already

Above anything, these boys are human. Start treating them like it.
