Penticton's Pickering To Seawolves in 2010

BCHL veteran Andrew Pickering announces his commitment to the UAA Seawolves in this audio link on the Penticton Vees website blog.  The 20 year old forward played 133 games in the BCHL over the past 3 seasons scoring 36 goals and 61 assist with 5 different teams.

Pickering is 5'11" and 185lbs and turn 21 at the beginning of June.

It's hard to know exactly why Andrew ended up playing for so many different teams since he produced reasonably well no matter where he played.

Welcome to the incoming freshman list Andrew.  We look forward to seeing you play this fall.

It's shaping up to be a pretty interesting forward roster this fall.  There sure looks to be a lot of competition for playing time.

Great pickup for the Seawolves...had the pleasure of watching him when he played in Trail and I know that the only reason he was moved out was because the team wnated to get younger...

I was messing around on the internet tonight and found a very interesting website:

http://www.amateurhockeyreport.com/ncaa/ncaa_commit.html

Amazing how many players are either pulled by the school or decommit. Fairbanks has pulled three players (Hoshaw, Marx, and Revell), and Olsson decommitted.

AND, the site posted above lists Bengston as "2010(Decommit-WHL)"

What is up with that? Did UAA drop him, or did he change his mind?

OOPS, disregard 10:50 comment, it was Bennet not Bengston.

Maybe Shyiak should look at that site. Wasn't Beaverson a fallout of the UND staff and ended up at UAA instead?

not a good sign that Zach Rall was selected in NAHL draft. Probably means he could be getting dropped from USHL. Hopefully they are just rolling the dice on a chance he doesnt play in the USHL

I saw that. But, Rall is a fairly well regarded prospect so wherever he plays he should continue to develop.

Question: I just scrolled through the list of Parnell's vetoes and things like "upgrades to Sullivan Arena, Boeke, and Dempsey", are all vetoed (figures) but I didn't see anything about the UAA facility.

I realize this is a non-ice facility (although local businessman hope to add a privately owned arena onto the UAA site)..

But what I'm wondering is: Was the UAA Sports Arena something that could be vetoed by the current governor, or was it going to the ballot in the autumn no matter what?

Thanks 4 any info if U know! :D

c-woof :p

It will be on the ballot this fall.

Ok, thank you Donald!

I wish UAA would do a little PR blitz indicating the need for the new place.

There was a LOT of publicity recently in the news all because of the fancy new seats "with cup-holders" *rollseyes* at the UAA basketball rink.

I saw interviews of UAA personnel, coaches, and students and none of them mentioned the new facility. They were all just raving about the comfy new seats.

Oh well. Hopefully the voters know better.

Don't count on the voting public for anything. Haven't you heard we have no money and we will never have any.

Wow, according to that article, Russell states that Whitten "landed" some UAA players - (before he was even on staff!) LOL
