Another Surprise Player: Sean MacTavish for 2015-16

Over The Boards tweeted yesterday that Sean MacTavish (20yo, 6ft, 190lb right-hander), the son of former Edmonton Oiler's player, Head Coach and GM Craig MacTavish, is coming to UAA after previously giving a verbal commitment to Boston University. Thanks to Anon for the comment in the last post for giving the heads up.

The tweet says, "Nice pull out of the USHL for UAA."  And I certainly can't disagree. Sean had good numbers his first two junior years in the AJHL with Sherwood Park scoring near 1ppg over those seasons. Last year he played for three different USHL teams and seemed to struggle statistically except while with Lincoln where he bagged 3 goals with 4 assists in 14 games. Good work from the UAA staff (I'm assuming this is Josh Ciocco's handiwork) securing this.

The addition of another forward to the UAA roster brings the total number to 20.  Not to put too fine a point on it but there's 12 guys that dress for a game. Before this announcement there was going to be boatloads of competition for playing time. Now there's even more.

Welcome to UAA Sean.

Louis Mass Met and Greeted

Last evening (Wednesday) the UAA Athletic Department held a "Meet and Greet" with new Seawolf Assistant Coach Louis Mass at the Alaska Airlines Center's Varsity Grill. It was a good event that was reasonably well attended for the middle of July. Louis seemed pleased with the turnout.
