Big Rapids, Michigan Mayor Mark Warba has proclaimed this weekend (and all future weekends that the UAA Seawolves visit town) as "Seawolves Weekend". In abstentia, Warba presented the Seawolves team with a "Key to the City" in recognition of their fine donations to the Ferris State hockey program.
Prior to this weekend, the Ferris State Bulldogs had amassed eleven (11) goals in their first nine (9) games. Today, they've scored 25 goals in 11 games. Their goals per game went from 1.22 per game up to 2.27 per game. They scored 3 more goals in 2 games against UAA than they'd scored in NINE previous games. November 14, 2014: Big Rapids, Michigan -- In recognition of outstanding contributions the right honorable Mayor Mark Warba has proclaimed this weekend (November 15th and 16th, 2014) University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves Weekend.
Be it also known therefore that all future weekends in which the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves visit Big Rapids to play our Ferris State Bulldogs shall likewise be known as "Seawolves Weekend" in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the mental well-being of all hockey fans in this great city.
Be it also known therefore that a "Key to the City" awaits the Seawolves return and a city-wide parade will ensue upon their arrival. The team will be picked up at the airport and shuttled in finest luxury to the parade site in downtown Big Rapids where citizens will shower them with appreciation.
Thank you Seawolves for all you've done this weekend to beautify the great City of Big Rapids with 14 goals against on November the 14th, 2014.
Well, that's pretty nice. It's good to see our guys get something out of the last two games. I'm sure their plane ride home wasn't exactly a party but I'm imagining that being honored like this will make up somewhat for their disappointment. I know I'm prouder because of it.
