I've got not much more than some smart-assery here tonight. This loss was pretty ugly. Granted that MTU is a pretty nice squad that has been playing good hockey all season long, but that doesn't satisfy the frustration of watching your team play badly. Here's my notes from the game which should indicate my complete and utter disillusionment.
The first penalty kill was effective but not pretty. Credit Mantha as well as the D men staying home near the crease.
The first half of the period was pretty much all MTU. The Seawolves defended decently but never managed any real attack or pressure in the Huskies zone.
It's been all Mantha.
The goal on the 2nd power play (with Hubbsy off for a very unnecessary "kneeing" penalty) was simply numbers. Mantha seriously came so close to making a really amazing save on the shot that went in. Close is for tiddlywinks and hand-grenades.
1:49 of power play to finish the period with nary a puck reaching the MTU net.
And then 1 shot in 5 minutes of power play? Just sayin ...
At least we get to hear some Led Zepplin (even if it's only 15 seconds). So there's that.
The Seawolves are just giving up the puck all night long i.e ... now it's 4-0 and getting ugly.
D'Amico in the net cos Mantha was the problem. Yeah, that's the story. Yep.
Pearson is making a spectacle of himself on the bench. His team is up 4-0 after 30 minutes en route to a possible 8-0 win and he's whining to the refs. I bet he's from Michigan: State of Whiners.
So yeah now it's 5-0.
There is some effing stupid pass attempts by the Seawolves in this game. Just effing STUPID.
YAY ... we had a puck almost on the line!!!
I paid for a shave and a haircut for this? Also I showered and asked a girl to come out to tomorrow night's game. I hope she says no at this point.
My current theory is that we're getting pasted because we are wearing these ugly off-white sweaters. And also because I didn't imbibe enough alcohol.
YAY ... Blake Tatchell had a nice finish to actually get the Seawolves on the board. Only 5-1 now.
Tech is coasting; and even with that the Seawolves are unable to assert themselves offensively and are still giving up chances in their own end that they shouldn't be.
There's not much positive take-away from this experience. There's nothing to do but come back out tomorrow night and hope dynamics favor our boys somehow.
