The American International College Yellow Jackets are the Seawolves Saturday afternoon opponent this weekend at the Carlson Center along the not-so-fair banks of the Chena River. The Yellow Jackets are coached by Gary "Dream Weaver" Wright. The only coach they've ever had.
Wright retired from pop music in 1980 and after travelling the world for a few years began the AIC program in 1984. And he's been weaving that dream ever since.
Austin Orszulak #17 looks to be the most dangerous scoring threat for the Jackets. He bagged 22 goals last season on a team that went 4-25-7. They've played only a single game so far this season losing to the University of New Hampshire 7-3.
Goalie Alex Murray is tied for 3rd place in team scoring with his single assist last weekend. His mom and pop will likely be a little jazzed to see his name at the top of the team scoring chart. The team comes from a majority NAHL background with EJHL next filled in by players from the other leagues.
Their freshman class consists of 6 forwards and 3 defensemen. #20 Cope has a decent resume' with stints playing in the NAHL, the BCHL and the OJHL where he performed nicely in each. #18 Travis Douglas spent three years in the CCHL where he had numbers which would be comparable to our non-playing Renouf twins.
Giant-sized forward, #21 Marc Dubeau put up 42 points in 56 SJHL games last season. Defenseman #26 Johnny Mueller gets a sort of homecoming this weekend. He's from St. Louis but played the last 3 seasons with the Ice Dogs before heading to AIC.
Expect the Yellow Jackets to do whatever they need to do in order to keep a game close. No doubt that wily old veteran coach/former pop-star Coach Gary Wright would say, "I thinks it's time to get ready, to realize just what I have found, i have been only half of what I am, it's all clear to me now" ... He's gonna ensure that Love is Alive. Yeah, yeah yeah .... hoo hoo ... his love is alive ...
