Mitch Bruijsten, Chris Crowell, Tyler Currier, Alex Gellert, Daniel Naslund, Mickey Spencer and Scott Warner are the seven players that make up this season's all-important junior class. The senior class's leadership is of course important; but with 359 combined games between these juniors ... the sheer quantity of experience and maturity amongst them will the biggest part of the leadership of this year's Seawolves squad.

Crowell, Sidor and Warner WCHA Scholar Athletes
![]() |
| (Left to Right ...) Chris Crowell, Dusan Sidor, Scott Warner |
On Thursday February 10th, 2011 the WCHA announced it's sixth annual Scholar Athlete awards. For the Seawolves, Chris Crowell, Dusan Sidor and Scott Warner. To receive the award an athlete must have completed at least one year of residency at their school prior to the current academic year. They must also have a GPA of at least 3.5 for the previous two semesters or may qualify if their GPA is at least 3.5 for all terms at their current school.
All three players will be recognized and publicly honored this coming Friday night at the Seawolves game versus UNO.
Dusan is a Marketing and Management major, Chris and Scott are both Civil Engineering majors. Sidor is a repeat honoree and Crowell and Warner are both first time recipients. Congratulations to all three of these fine young men. Maintaining high grades while playing hockey for UAA requires dedication and hard work considering the huge travel schedule of the program.

UAA Takes It On The Chin 5-1
![]() |
| Tell me that ain't Gwoz ... |
It's pretty rare you see a hockey team that basically outworked and outplayed an opponent lose by 5-1. That's what I saw tonight. Tonight's game for me came down to a contest of chances finishing. The Seawolves finished only one of their many many chances. DU finished most of their chances. Game over. Nutshell. Finis. End of story. That's all she rolls. The fat lady sung.

The 2010-2011 UAA Seawolves Sophomore Class
Mitch Bruijsten, Chris Crowell, Tyler Currier, Drew Darwitz, Alex Gellert, Daniel Naslund, Dusan Sidor, Mickey Spencer and Scott Warner are the nine sophomores donning UAA sweaters this season. In many ways this group could prove to be the most important class of the four. Yes, nothing has changed since my senior and junior class previews; the WCHA is still an upperclassmen's league. But this group could very well have the most guys dressed each game night. And in that lies their importance to the Seawolves chances for more success this season.

Regg Simon Departs and Some Other Stuff
I guess it's as good a time as any to make another summer post. The only real news is (as you're probably already aware) that today Regg Simon has taken the head coaching spot at Des Moines in the USHL. A job which was recently vacated by Mike Guentzel who is off to Omaha to feed on Dean Blais' hind-teat while Dean awaits the demise of Don Lucia as his ticket out of Nebraska.
Best of luck to Regg. Returning to the Jr. A head coaching ranks is probably a good career move for him. If he can build success there over a few years then he could start to be considered for next level head coaching jobs at some point.
