Allen Leading Spruce Grove On Road To The RBC

Future Seawolves player Scott Allen has been on a playoff tear for the AJHL's Spruce Grove Saints.  In the inital rounds of AJHL playoff games Scott posted an impressive 1.1 points per game, which led the team.

In 9 games he scored 7 goals and added 3 assists.  Spruce Grove played 13 AJHL playoff games en route to their current participation in the Doyle Cup series which determines the western representative for the RBC Cup which is Canada's defacto Junior A championship.

In the first three Doyle Cup games against the BCHL champion Vernon Vipers (all 3 games on Vernon's ice), Allen has increased his torrid scoring pace to 1.3 points per game with 3 goals and 1 assist.  He currently leads all Doyle Cup participants in scoring.  Scott was named #3 Star in the 2nd game for his game winning goal and the #1 Star in the 3rd game for his 2 goals and 1 assist.  The Series resumes this coming Wednesday (April 20th, 2011) on Saint's home ice at the Grant Fuhr Arena.  Spruce Grove now leads the series 2 -1.

The 6ft 3in, 190lb Allen will join former Spruce Grove teammates Brett Cameron and Wes McLeod in Green & Gold for the 2011-2012 edition of the UAA Seawolves.  Keep it up Scott.  We're all looking forward to seeing you make your mark in the WCHA.  Hopefully, your hair changes back to it's normal color by then.

I just noticed (because it wasn't noted anywhere obvious) that Scott was the AJHL Playoff MVP. The junior team websites are sometimes sketchy as far as updates so I don't make them my first stop and for whatever reason I never saw this on the league website.

So my apologies for not highlighting that accomplishment.

This Doyle Cup goes to game 7 tomorrow (Sunday); Allen now has 5 goals and 1 assist to lead the series in scoring.

For anyone following ... Spruce Grove lost last night 4-2 and so their season is finished. Allen scored another goal in the game to finish the 7 game series with 6 goals and 1 assist.

So by my count that gave him 14 goals in 16 postseason games. Damn nice numbers.

So the only two recruits still playing are Derek Docken and Tony Larson with Dubuque in the USHL ... Dubuque won it's quarterfinal playoff series over Fargo in 3 straight games. They open the best of 5 Semi-Finals on Friday against Sioux Falls.

Kevin scored another today to make it 3 goals and 2 assists in just 6 playoff games. The Moose though lost 4-2 after Clarkie scored the first goal of the game.
