Seawolves 2015-16 Tickets Announcement

Today the UAA Athletic Department showed excellent responsiveness to fan concerns which were expressed here at season's end.  We talked about wanting 10 dollar tickets and we talked about expanding the "wet" section. Both of these things got implemented and were announced in today's release. Thank you (Big Ups ... Mad Phat Props ...) to the Athletic Department for making this happen.

In the release, Chris Gerace (the exceptionally competent and indubitably passionate Manager of Season Tickets and Development Assistant) says,
“We listened to the suggestions of Seawolves fans and supporters, and are excited to announce some of the changes for the 2015-16 season. For hockey games, a bigger ‘wet’ section will be introduced, as well as $10 tickets at the door."
Are you guys patting yourselves on the back yet? Go ahead ... take a moment to do so; you deserve it. This is a very positive change. Getting more people into the rink will not only improve the bottom line for the school it will make the atmosphere at the Sully something that will help the team. The goal for this program must be to win EVERY home game ... winning at home and splitting on the road over the course of a season will put you into the NCAA tournament more times than not.

These measures aren't going to fill the Sully. Let's not pretend that anything other than winning will do that ... because it won't. Remember, sports fans choose to spend money attending an event based on their assessment of whether their team is likely to win. But that said, getting more people into the rink through cheaper tickets is a factor in their risk equation for spending those funds. And to be sure, making it easier for them to have a cold one at the event helps as well.

Additonally, they've announced an expansion of the Seapups Program to other sports (last year it only applied to Hockey) which gives kids under-12 a super cheap ticket, special seating and access to the players and coaches. This is a valuable program because just like Buddy Christ says, "Get em while they're young!"

Here's the key dates for Hockey from today's release:
June 1- Renewals out/ New season ticket requests taken
July 24- Last day to receive 10% off, will be determined by postmark date
August 7- Send booklet info to printing
August 17- Non renewed tickets released
August 25- Pick a Seat (Tentative date, subject to Sullivan Arena remodel)
August 26- Start assigning seating for new season ticket requests
September 29- Season tickets ready for pickup
October 2- Single game tickets on sale

Any word on who may be replacing Whitten?

"replacing Whitten"
????????

Anonymous said...

My bad, not Whitten but TJ. Does anyone think Barrett would be interested in the job? Has the school been looking for a replacement? Hey, someone was actually paying attention here ...

Barrett the way it was told to me doesn't have a degree so doesn't qualify.
Too bad cause all his other credentials are superb.

How about JJ
Dan

Yeah, Barrett only went to Maine for two years. Another reason why these guys should stay in school and get a degree! JJ? No way man. He didn't support the program for YEARS simply because he hated Cobb. And that came directly from him. That is not the kind of dedication I want.

The Aces Facebook page has photos of the Sullivan Arena construction. They are saying that ALL of the seats, even the red ones in the balcony, are being replaced. I hope they are correct!

Louis Mass is going to be the new assistant coach.

Went to Bowling Green, coached by Davis Payne twice (Per Dee & Aces), I seem to remember him a fan favorite of the Aces?

Anonymous said...

Anyone have a source confirming mass as new assistant?

Kurt Haider is now the Aces Announcer. Think David Tuttle is going to step up full time?

Anonymous said...

Here is the link for it: http://www.adn.com/article/20150616/uaa-aces-haider-aces-new-broadcaster

Not Haider!

It was bound to happen though, better pay, better opportunity to jump up to the AHL or NHL (just like Jack Michaels I believe-Oilers). Sad to see the day come though.

Kurt you were the light in dark for many seasons, thanks for sticking with us for so long and I'm glad you got to go to the Final Five twice, and see a winning season with UAA.

I'll be the 2nd source on the Louis Mass hire. It will be announced tomorrow (wed) morning at 10 am. I'll have a post up about it at right after I get the release.

My suggestion for a replacement??? Steve McDonald from channel 2.

Anonymous said...

Does Steve have any sports broadcasting experience? It's gonna be really hard to replace the kind of play by play guy Haider is.

Suze said...

Steve is a big UAA fan, but I think Tuttle would be better at play by play, and he has already put in 10 years as a color guy. I hope he gets it.
