Pios Xmas Comes Early

The UAA Seawolves were magnanimous tonight. In the spirit of an early Xmas they gifted a hockey game to their opponent. The SantaWolves out-shot, out-hit, out-chanced, out-worked, out-skated and just plain out-played the Pioneers for 59:50 seconds. The other 10 seconds the Seawolves out-gave their opponent.

Two brutal giveaways were the difference in the game. They weren't the only two giveaways but the Pioneers weren't able to convert on several other opportunities that were given to them. 36-16 were the shot totals. 36-16. More than double. It wasn't as if the stingy grumpy Grinch was in net for DU. Mannino served up juicy rebound after juicy rebound all night long. As often as not the WhoWolves were there for second chances but either fired it wide or just couldn't quite connect.

I'll mention Peter Cartwright's name here (who is likely to have some Tim Burton-style nightmares tonight), who late in the third period found himself with the puck on his stick between his feet facing an glaringly open net and couldn't quite get the trigger pulled. But that was just the most obvious example. Perhaps on another night the score might have been 7-2 for the Seawolves. But that just didn't seem to be in the books for UAA tonight. Sigh ...

I'm out. I just can't think of anything else to say. The Pios did cash in on the few chances they were granted. The Seawolves didn't cash in enough of the numerous chances they had. End of story.

Hopefully tonite a point or two for UAA. I'm all for throwing the puck into the net at this point. We really need to capitalize on our opportunities. To lose by one point every other game is so frustrating, especially games where we've clearly outplayed our opponents. I was right to be a little leery of the line-up changes yesterday. There appears to be no rhyme or reason for some of the decisions of late. The Seawolves are very talented and deserve more points for their efforts. They seem to be causing many teams fits and this I believe will only benefit us in the next half of the season. Good luck tonite boys!

Tonight the difference between the #4 team and UAA was they burried most of their chances, we didn't... You mention Cartwright, but DayChief had another glorious chance and failed on the tap-in. DU is explosive offensively and when you repeatidly cough up the puck they are going to burry it enough times to win the game... End of story.

Tarkir also had a glorious chance when he stripped Mannino of the puck behind his net. Another UAA player there ... Chris passes it to DU.

Those kinds of mistakes are almost inexcusable.

There isn't much you can say about the game that hasn't been said before after a loss that could of or should have been a win. We can only hope the guys can watch the tape and see just how well they played and play the same tonight without the turnovers. Something has to change to get the guys a win. Maybe Donald could wear pants and not the shorts for one game...

Not wear shorts? Not wear shorts? Man ... that's asking a lot. I'll turn my hat around the right way tonight and wear a different pair of shorts ... hows that?

It is alot to ask but if the hat doesn't do it then the shorts will need to go for the next home game.. What was up with Mr. Suze wearing a hat last night?

Hi Will! ;) He'd been up since 2 am and didn't take another shower. :)

If UAA would have won, you'd see the hat again tonight.

After last night, some players are still in the line-up and some aren't???? Sighhhhh..............

I really liked McCabe on the line with Clark and Lunden. I wish Shyiak would put Crowder on another line and one of our scoring freshmen with Clarkie and Josh. McCabes goal was a beauty.

His goal was a beauty. Perhaps a little more unselfish play would be in order tonight from some players and we could have more goals like that.
