Intercourse The Nanooks

What a despicable display we saw tonight, eh? The FAIRBANKS Nanooks went seriously overboard tonight. The team attitude ... from the BENCH to the ice was worthy of league sanctioning. Seriously, if the WCHA doesn't step up and sanction UA_ for the end of that game tonight then we're in a truly crap league. Dallas Ferguson should be righteously ashamed of his team. The freaking Assistant Coach got TOSSED with 8 seconds left.

Let's run this down so there can be no mistake about the goonery we saw tonight: UA_ went 15 penalties for 87 minutes in penalties tonight versus the Seawolves 10.  SIXTY-FOUR of those 88 came in the final 90 seconds of the game (87 to be precise). That's ridiculous. I like Dallas Ferguson BUT, he needs to apologize for his team's BS tonight ... and that honestly isn't enough; redundantly---the WCHA seriously needs to sanction ua_ or they suck. Say whatever you want about Bruce McLeod but he would have been on the phone will Dallas Ferguson and been asking, "WTF?"

There's been more than a fair bit of nastiness between the Seawolves and the crapteam from a craphole on a muddy river but tonight took it to a new level.  Maybe my memory sucks, but I can't remember more ugliness than I witness tonight. Shyiak throwing a water bottle is like a piss in the ocean compared to the nonsense we saw.

I'm proud of the Seawolves for the win. I worked til 8:30 or so and only got to see the last 5 mins of the 2nd and the 3rd period of the game. I'm glad they didn't respond to the crap that ua_ pulled; but honestly ... I wouldn't have minded if a Seawolf had responded by giving someone in a TRULY/ UGLY powder blue jersey with a STUPID LOOKING logo a legitimate helmetless-gloveless beating at center ice. ua_ deserved that.

Make no mistake, I'm all about our Seawolves taking two points. My boys (yes I'm sorta pulling for another WCHA team to do well) in Alabama put up a nice W against Norther Michigan tonight ... so I'm glad we kept pace with them and helped ourselves a wee bit in the standings. Of course, it's more important that we beat Squarebanks for all that rivalry stuff and that stupid Governor's Cup that Fairbanks fans are so deeply enaamored with winning via a shootout.

Saturday night has the makings of something epic IMHO. I hope our boys play with passion, focus and grit in Saturday's game. If they do then I've few doubts that we'll sweep these suckers on their awful rink.

Also, I think Olivier Mantha will become recognized as one of the finest Division 1 goaltenders in the near future. He's really got a nice set of tools with perhaps the top one being his composure. I don't want to take away from his notable talent/skills but this kid is as level-headed as they come. I mentioned to my fine friend Bill tonight that Mantha was akin to Nathan Lawson minus the crazy. Mantha will play in the NHL one day ... mark my words.

Props to Matt Shasby for his gutsy prediction when I saw him at Dempsey today; I aksed him if UAA was gonna win tonight and he said, "Definitely." (or something similar which I must admit escapes me since I've had a couple).

Congrats Seawolves on a nice win. Let them know what you're all about tomorrow night fellas. Put another W on the board.

At least Bruce and Erik weren't wearing blue colored glasses during the game. What the UA_ blogger wrote should be embarrassing to Nanook hockey. They deserved all of those penalties. I agree, the league should look at extra sanctions. Goon hockey at its finest.

I love this rivalry. The drama from last night sets up a pretty epic stage for Saturday, regardless of which side you're rooting for. UAA pushing for their first conference sweep, Nanooks responding to their conniption fit at the end of the game.

UAA still deserved to win last night, regardless of everything else that happened. Said it before, have no problem saying it again. We've all complained about officiating before, last night wasn't the first nor will it be the last I'm sure. But taking a step back and looking at the situation this afternoon, pretty good stage.

As far as sanctions, I wouldn't be surprised if Kaiser gets more games. Obviously he's ineligible tonight as it is, and deserves another game at least. No idea what the coach said to get tossed, but regardless he has something coming.

I really thought that Conti played a solid game last night. He gave the Nanooks fits getting the pucks out of their zone. Well done.

Donald, you know what really makes me hot is the fact that Alaska's Governor was in the house. And to disrespect the Cup ( they claim to luv above all else ) like that is just disgusting. I know It's a rivalry and all that but there is No Excuse for play like that. That's Not Hockey, that's total disregard for themselves and their school. I know They don't really have anything to play for this year but one would think they would have a wee bit more character and self respect. I think they realize now(maybeNot) what the rest of the world thinks of them, They cemented it last night by their play. Cheaters Again !!!!!

What a load of crap you acc fans are saying. In the end the Nooks have kicked your sorry asses again and still have the cup. That makes number 6.

Yeah, yeah, yeah nanook anon. You won the cup in yet ANOTHER shootout. More importantly, your record against Alaska Anchorage is a mere 55-86-11. Me thinks that is more of a telling statistic.
