54 Days, 21 Hours and 34 Minutes

Such is the number representing the amount of time between the end of the last home game on December 3rd, 2011 versus UND and this coming Friday night's game versus DU.  That's 4,742,440 seconds.  Four-million, seven-hundred forty-two thousand, four-hundred and forty seconds.

Or seven weeks if you prefer simplicity.

That's a long time since we've been at the Sully.  And now of course there's three home series in a row.  That feast or famine cliche seems obvious but nevertheless appropriate.

The game with CC was away so the last home game was before that and the time since they played at the Sully longer.

Please don't confuse the blogmeister with facts.

It's been a long time since he has seen UAA play. I'm sure he just forgot... What did you do to get banned on USCHO? I honestly want to know. The only time I got a timeout I really deserved it but I guess that hasn't been the case as of late.

Anonymous said...

Most people want to know why he was "BANNED" from USCHO. This is a good question. ????? The last person to ask was deleted. WHY? How was that seen as negativity? Keep asking, we need to know.

Anonymous said...

The better question is why haven't the USCHO powers that be banned old pioneer, dirty, and a few others who needed to go a LONG time ago.

Alaskana said...

As far as I know, he hasn't been banned recently. Yes, he has been banned from there, but that was years ago. So unless I'm mistaken this whole 'banned' business is overdone and not worth further discussion.

In any case, wouldn't this space be better spent discussing victory this Friday? Yes? Ok, then!

We have injured players back. We're at home. I say UAA gets a much needed win this weekend. The Pie n Ears are a team that is definitely beatable.

FFS ... my most recent "suspension" from USCHO was basically for trolling UND fans. They were in serious need of having their noses rubbed in the dirt and I gave that a less than successful try. So um ... it's far from the first time they've 86'd me for a week or two.

Donald Dunlop said...

And oh yeah ... I made the necessary corrections. Dunno how I thought CC was the last home game.

I watched us play Wisco both nights. Our guys didn't quit or lay down.

is it parent's weekend this weekend?

Anonymous said...

Why would parents weekend be halfway through the season? Isn't usually the last home league seris?

Anonymous said...

It would make more sense to have it at the end of the season and at the same time as senior night to make the travel costs more effective for parents. However, that would require good organizational skills which Cobb lacks. He cares so little for his hockey program he can't even get that right. He's a joke!!!

Donald Dunlop said...

Yeah I'm sure Cobb sits down and decides what night every parent's night is for all his sports ... and of course does it in secret with zero input from any concerned party.

Seawolfpunk said...

Parent's weekend is planned in advance by the Blueliner Hockey board, not Dr. Cobb.

Anonymous said...

Of course Cobb has no input as that might require him to actually do some work. He's not engaged enough with regards to his floundering hockey program. The man has no interest, desire nor the comittment and as a result the community is left with that product. Not good enough.

Is there a Coaches Lunch this week?

Anonymous said...

This weekend is Parent's Weekend for Seawolf Hockey. You can help by signing up to bring a dish for the potluck this Saturday. The theme is Italian. For more information or to sign up, please contact Becky Erickson at berickso63@yahoo.com.

My email did not say anything about a coaches Luncheon. But since this is DU we are talking about, Gwoz probably would not attend anyway.

Anonymous said...

No coaches lunch this week. Has nothing to do with Gwoz not attending or anyting else.....Cuddy Center isn't open yet for luncheons. Get out and support the student-athletes at the games. That's who it's all about. Not Gwoz, Shyiak, Cobb or anyone else. These guys deserve your support.

If you haven't been suspended for a week on USCHO, you suck as a poster. Nearly everybody has had a week vacation on there. Myself included.

And CHUCK-A-PUCK! Sweet, I've been saying for years to do one.

Donald Dunlop said...

Winning makes this sort of low-level (always anonymous) finger-pointing go away. Sweeping DU (and that's a doable goal) will be a good start.

I've no doubt Coach has the boys focused on Friday night and coming out with a win. He should be able to put his best lineups on the ice this weekend and demand of them that they produce.

It's a weekend that will start giving us an idea of who is going to produce down the stretch (the "stretch" starts now). I hope each player brings his desire to win and contribute to every shift.

There won't be enough people in the stands to properly cheer on the team this weekend. Anchorage is a big time bandwagon town ... maybe one of the worst sports towns in America.

LOL...sweeping DU a "doable goal"...LMFAO...

Anonymous said...

Stelio Kontas, glad you added "fat" in there. LOL

Donald Dunlop said...

It all depends on how much Gwozdusky makes his team trap in the neutral zone.

Anonymous said...

DU is hardly a trapping team. They use their speed to play good gap control, they block a lot of shots and limit grade As, but they don't clog the neutral zone very much.

They are a speed -focused bunch that wins games by getting behind the opponents defense and using some skilled forwards and aggressive d-men to get scoring chances.

DU is starting to get healthy, and when they get Bennett back in a few weeks, they a top notch team. Without Bennett, they are still good.

DU is 4-0-2 against UAA in the last six games, and UAA will need to be at their best to get some points.

dggoddard said...

Q: When was the last time UAA swept DU?

A: Dec. 11-12, 1998

BBEF said...

Q: When was the last time DG got laid (hookers don't count)?

A: Probably never.

Donald Dunlop said...

If people are coming here asserting that the 15th ranked team in the country isn't capable of being swept by UAA then I can only laugh at them. I didn't saying UAA was going to sweep DU. I said the goal of sweeping them is "doable". It is. Ask the 15th ranked gophers going into the WCHA playoffs last year.

So there's that.

Good point Anonymous!

p.s. Since there are 13 (now 14) Anonymous's here, good luck trying to figure out which of you I'm talking to.

Go wolves!

DU can suck a fat one, and this is coming from a Nook fan. Go 'Wolves.

New Recruit incoming to UAA. Blake Tatchell from the SJHL.
2nd in League Scoring with 72 Pts. in 45-Games. Looks like
one helluva pick up!

Anonymous said...

Interesting. The Sask. League is nowhere near as good as the USHL, BCHL or AJHL so you have to usually discount the stats a bit.

But certainly, any offense is a help to UAA at this point.

seawolfpunk said...

Anon @1251,

yes the SJHL is not as good as the big 3 Junior "A" leagues, but there's always a few gems here, from what i was told, its kinda like the MJHL (where Kevin Clark played)

seawolfpunk said...

Anyway Go Wolves, missing my 1st seawolf game in like 7 years tonight :(

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't get to excited about a player from the SJHL. If you look at the current UAA rooster there are a bunch of players from the AJHL (Alberta Junior Hockey League) and the BCHL( British Columbia Hockey League) and these two leagues are far superior to the SJHL (Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League). Why is UAA recruiting from the SJHL? Maybe with all the issues over the last few months at UAA they are unable to recruit players from the AJHL and the BCHL because they do not want to come there anymore.

Donald Dunlop said...

Yah .. why did UAA recruit Kevin Clark from the MJHL? So last anon ... you're entirely and completely wrong. Good luck with that.

Anonymous said...

Donald, keep on waiting for lightning to strike twice!!

akFAN said...

This DU team is not nearly as talented as past teams. They've only won 8 of their 16 games. Even if they are more talented than UAA, will can beat skill. I think UAA will have a lot of will to win this weekend.

Stelio Kontos! said...

LMFAO....

The atmosphere at Sullivan Arena is the worst in all of hockey. The guy playing the music should have been fired years ago. Really dude? Jeopardy theme music during the ref timeouts? How's it going 1986? Football defense music on the penalty kill? Get lost loser!

Anonymous said...

Actually, DU is a very talented team. The reason they've struggled this year is injuries. They've been without their best goalie all year, although Sam Brittain may get his first action tonight. They are still without Beau Bennett, an NHL first rounder and their most-talented player for most of the season. And they are still without Don Makowski, probably thier best defenseman. They've also missed other players for long stretches.

The Pioneers will probably be in the mix as the key injured guys return to action in Feb.

AKfan said...

UAA has struggled mightily with injuries and loss of players themselves so I won't cry any tears for the injured Denver players.
