Seawolves Squander 2-0 Lead In Favor of 3-3 Tie

Christmas came early for the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers tonight. The Seawolves put together a strong 1st period in which they killed a 5 minute major penalty to build a 2-0 lead on goals from Jeremiah Luedtke at 12:12 and Matt Anholt at 16:38.

When you're on the road and up 2-0 after the 1st period you're feeling pretty good. The Seawolves apparently were feeling a little too good as it seems they took their foot off the gas to open the 2nd and surrendered 3 goals before the clock had reached the 8 minute mark in a total of 5 minutes and 23 seconds.

For the rest of the tilt our boys struggled to make many scoring chances. Then with the ice freshly zammed at 2:50 of the 3rd Blake Tatchell buried a rebound from a Luedtke shot to tie the game.

The 3rd period was the only frame in which the Seawolves outshot the Chargers.

It wasn't the road debut that Coach Matt Thomas wanted to see but there's some solace in getting the league point. Tomorrow is simply now much more critical in terms of getting a positive result. Like tonight's game, tomorrow's result will be likely dependent on special teams play.

The Seawolves scored two power play goals tonight and that's a good thing of course. They kept UAH off the board during their 4 power plays and that's a good thing too. There seemed to be a bit of an undercurrent of chippiness (I only listened on the radio) throughout the game and I'm guessing those bad feelings will play a part in Saturday night's game.

There's nothing really to do except to redouble the efforts and ensure that whatever caused the loss of focus for the Seawolves is remedied. There's a big difference in being 3-2-1 or 3-1-2 and being 4-1-1. A very big difference. Let's hope our boys can come home with the 4 in the W column instead of that 3.

I didn't see any of the UAH goals - what happened? Was it defensive breakdowns or did Mantha not play his best game?

Let me take a nap... great shot, anyway.
I think I'm crying. It's that admirable.
Excellent. So revolutionary.
Really good experience, friend.
