Releases, Releases, Releases ...

Prepare for linkedness and lots of it.  The releases from Air Force, UAA, the CCHA and the WCHA are available at the links below.

Apparently, UND doesn't share it's releases with the UAA Sports Information Department.  Go figure.  But I've managed to track it down on their hostile and abusive website.  I'll be so happy when I don't have to be subjected to that obscene logo of a decapitated Lakota after this season.

And of course, up in Squarebanks they just can't seem to provide a timely release but if you click the link you'll note I've graciously included them in the hopes that they actually do some sort of weekly release.

And lastly, here's a link to a short interview in which Campbell Blair talks about this week's preparations for the tournament.  Once again, I apologize for not being able to embed the video.  Blame Microsoft and their shitty attitude toward's Mac users.  Why they should care if I have Microsoft Silverlight on my machine (which I do) when I'm trying to embed a Silverlight video on a Google run website is beyond me.  But that's Microsoft.

Does Doyle Woody get a kick back from the Aces or something? The Aces lose their opening exhibition game, yet the headlines in the ADN read "Aces flash some potential in loss to Thunder". Unreal.

I wish he would show that kind of grace to our college students.

You make a very excellent point. In the past there was some sort of co-marketing agreement between the Aces and the ADN. I'm not sure what the status of that is now ... BUT ... yeah - What the hell? You are exactly right. He rarely if ever shows that sort of grace to UAA.

You've nailed it with the perfect phrase. I believe Patrick Dougherty is still the managing editor at ADN. I addressed their lack of coverage with him in an email exchange in Feb 2007. And I just wish I'd used that phrase.

Here's the link to the exchange I had with Pat Dougherty.

Not only lack of coverage, but the coverage UAA gets is mean spirited, sarcastic, and downright unprofessional.

I totally agree with anon at 1:47.

So when the ADN calls your home and wants you to subscribe to their paper, tell them NO, then tell them why. Money talks.

I hate to burst your bubble, but ADN doesn't want to hear about it. Earlier this year when I dropped my subscription, they wanted me to come back and even gave me an incentive to renew, I told the person why I was dropping them. I told her( a person named Amy with very bad English, which really pisses me off), that I was sick and tired of woodhead spewing nasty negative remarks about UAA and that he was insulting in his writing of the seawolves. I asked her to relay my feelings and that since she wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor about my issues with Doyle Woody that I expected a letter with an acknowledgement that my concerns were heard. Guess What? No letter, no nothing. Go figure eh?they don't care, they don't give a rats behind. My suggestion, f-them and feed them fish head soup. I've got better things to do with my time than read a 2 page overrated rag.

If enough people cancelled their subscriptions and took the time to tell them why (as you and I did), believe me, they would pay attention. The ADN is really struggling now, circulation is WAY down.

I think this is a useful discussion to have. I started the fan forum because these sorts of thoughts get lost over time as this post works it's way down the blog.

If nobody else decides to do so in the next few days I'll perhaps start one there and so maybe then the next time we feel slighted by ADN or Doyle we can have that be a long term discussion?
