Red Line Report: Bennett "rising" on Sleeper List

Kyle Woodlief's Red Line Report on March 20th placed UAA Seawolves 10-11 recruit Spencer Bennett in the "rising" section of their listing of possible sleepers in the upcoming NHL draft. Bennett was one of only two current Junior A players so mentioned out of a total of 16 other so-called sleepers. The blurb on Spencer says:
Spencer BennettHad a quiet finish to the season, but has been Surrey's best player early in the BCHL playoffs. Has great touch around the net, we just wish he'd use his 6-3 frame more aggressively.
Another year in the BCHL should prove hugely beneficial for UAA when he comes for 10-11. If he has a good year next season with Surrey then I'd expect he's a threat to become an impactful freshman player of the few and far between variety.

I don't see a realistic opportunity for Spencer to accelerate his committment purely due to UAA's current roster size. If somehow there were dramatic unexpected departures then perhaps. But in terms of chances I'd say they are pretty low.

Expect to see 09-10 Seawolves recruit Wes McLeod's name called at the NHL draft as well somewhere in the 4th or 5th rounds as the mid-term rankings had him listed at 119 out of 200.

JP (who cares?) lamoureux. What a last name. Lamoureux has a 2.33 GAA and a .922 save percentage. While in the AHL (that's one step behind the NHL) NATE THE GREAT is second in the league with a 2.13 GAA and a .929 save percentage. I think Nathan should get more appreciation from anchorage fans much more than Jean. Nathan who actually came here as a student-athlete. Kudos to nathan lawson success in the AHL.

DIDO on the Kudos we should be throwing to Nate. He has really seemed to thrive in the A against way tougher competition than the Aces play against. Keep it going Nate, Next stop is "The Show".

Donald, when predicting where Wes will go, don't forget that the 119 ranking was for NA skaters. You still have to factor in goalies and all Europeans.

Don't draft him to high, he may jump ship to another college.

You really are a sad group of people. You can't appreciate the hockey Anchorage has to offer unless it's the seawolves?

Anon@358:
What the hell are you talking about? This blog has a limited focus because the blogger finds more than enough stuff to write about the Seawolves to keep his volunteering ass busy.

I have a tentative arrangement to bring on another blogger who will write about UAA alumni still playing professional hockey.

Personally, I appreciate all the hockey that comes from or has anything to do with Alaska. Thank god we still have a newspaper in this town and a writer that gets paid to cover that stuff.

I don't get paid so I limit the focus here. Perhaps you can start up a "All Things Alaska Hockey" blog and cover EVERYTHING. If you have a full time job already you'll find that a pretty daunting task. But good luck with it.

Others:
Bourno's blog is great. I've linked to it ... it's now 1st on the "Some Blogs" section.

Anon 3:58 should have taken notice before opening his/her mouth that the name of this blog is UAA Hockey Fan Blog. Pretty good reason why the main concentration here is on the Seawolves.

Stop complaining and start your own blog!

Is it just me or does no-one respect blogs anymore. I think that it's pathetic that teenagers have no spare time to do anything but vandalise a respectable source of information. I am assuming it was a teenager because no sensible adult would post such vulgar things. It's abosoloutely disgraceful.

Marcus Swillington said...

Absoloutely* sorry for the spelling mistake, I was angry.

This is really random but does anyone know John Nunn? Also known as 'Woody'. Well he likes to shave heads!

Rumour has it that Kallum Long has impregnanted an innocent teenager. Her identity has to be kept secret. His weird friend Alexander Harvey has been seen rolling down hills, which is related to underage drinking. How fabulous.
