Donnie Harris Commitment Confirmed

Last week we got a tip in the comments section that 19 year old defenseman Donnie Harris from the AJHL's Bonnyville Pontiacs had committed to the Seawolves.  Today a Bonnyville press release confirms exactly that.  The 6ft 2in 205lb defenseman originally hails from Fort Ashby, West Virginia.  His first exposure to hockey there came at a local rec center where he says he fell in love with the sport.

Donnie's playing career includes time with the Northwest Regulators Midget AAA team in Utah.  Then stints in the USHL with the Omaha Lancers and NAHL with the Bismarck Bobcats before settling in for the last two season with Bonnyville.  In 74 career games with the Pontiacs, Donnie has 3 goals and 20 assists with 93 penalty minutes.

Everything I've seen or read regarding Donnie is that he's a rugged, stay-at-home defenseman with an improving offensive upside.  The Bonnyville press release says;
Back for his final season, Harris has been a key contributor in the Pontiacs early season success totaling 6 points (2G - 4A) in the first 17 games. Harris' size, skating ability and hockey sense make him valuable in all situations.
So welcome to UAA and the WCHA Donnie.  I know at one time you told someone that Boston College was your dream for Division 1 hockey ... well, at least you're coming to a school that has never lost a game to Boston College.

Wow! A kid from the “east coast” coming ALL THE WAY WEST. I think that’s kind of badass.

Donnie is a great kid and a great player. Big solid stay at home defencemen. He will help.

Thanks Anon! We appreciate those sort of comments ... good to know.

BBEF,
We had a player from Nova Scotia once ... that's the furthest east I can remember other than Euro players ...

Who was the goalie we once had from Pittsburgh?

Anon @ 1044, Kevin Rieter was from Pittsburgh.
Donnie sounds like a good pick up for the Seawolves! I can't wait until next season when I am back in AK to cheer on the team.
